Blogger, Hello, Picasa

I posted a while ago about how much I disliked using the Hello picture sending messaging program to post pictures to blogger from Picasa. I got an email from the Picasa crew the other day detailing some updates to the software and one of them was… wait for it…

The new “BlogThis!” button allows you to post one photo at a time directly to the Blogger.com web editor without going through the Hello software.

There also seems to be some improved RAW file handling and importing of EXIF information. The RAW file handling worked on and off for me before. I would have a lot of thumbnails that just looked like garbage but the full size pics looked fine, or vice versa. The EXIF is exciting too. My camera records all sorts of information about each shot that I take: aperature, shutter speed, focal length, flash type, film speed, etc. Now I can see that info in Picasa. This will also allow me to totally abandon Canon’s crappy software that came with my camera.

RAW and EXIF are both greate improvements. Picasa seems to have fixed a few of my biggest problems with their software. And it’s free! Google really does seem to know how to pick ‘em.
